March 1, 2002
If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearings.
The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed Morro Bay Power Plant Project will hold evidentiary hearings as follows:
TUESDAY through THURSDAY, MARCH 12,
13, & 14, 2002
Each session beginning at 9 a.m.
Veterans Memorial Building
209 Surf Street
Morro Bay, California
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or staff workshops.
Duke Energy is proposing a 1,200-megawatt modernization of the existing 1,030-megawatt
Morro Bay Power Plant. The applicant plans construction of two new 600-megawatt combined cycle units to replace the currently operating generating units. Each new unit will consist of two gas-fired turbines and one steam turbine.
Members of the public are encouraged to participate and will have the opportunity to comment and ask clarifying questions on any of the subjects. For more information on how to participate, contact the Energy Commission's Public Adviser, Roberta Mendonca, at (916) 654-4489, toll free at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
