Community Calendar Announcement

March 6, 2002

Dear Editor/Publisher: If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following conference.

The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed Magnolia Power Project will hold a scheduling conference as follows:

MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2002
Beginning at 2 p.m.
First Floor Hearing Room A
California Energy Commission
1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California

(Wheelchair Accessible)
-or-
Teleconference: 1-888-390-2955
Passcode: Magnolia

The prehearing conference orginally scheduled for this day has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. The scheduling conference will allow parties to discuss issues related to Applicant's wastewater discharge plan and the status of its application for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. The parties will also be given an opportunity to identify any other substantive issues that remain disputed and indicate whether the disputes can be resolved prior to evidentiary hearings.

Proposed by the Southern California Public Power Authority, the Magnolia Power Plant would be a 250-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle power facility located at the existing 23-acre site of the Magnolia Power Station in the City of Burbank.

Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to participate in the hearing. Time will be reserved to allow members of the public to comment. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at .
