Community Calendar Announcement

October 16, 2002

Dear Editor/Publisher:

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

Energy Commission staff will conduct an air quality and cooling workshop to discuss the proposed Palomar Energy Project as follows:

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2002
3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
California Center for the Arts
340 N. Escondido Blvd.

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss a revised mitigation proposal and to address issues relating to the use of reclaimed water in wet cooling towers and alternative cooling options.

The Palomar Energy Project, proposed by Sempra Energy Resources, would be a 500-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle facility located on a 20-acre site within the Escondido Research and Technology Center industrial park.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions during the workshop. Persons requiring information on how to participate in the Energy CommissionŐs review of the proposed project should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Energy CommissionŐs Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489 or toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at [pao@energy.state.ca.us].
