Energy Commission Schedules Informational Hearing,
Site Visit to Proposed Walnut Energy Center

On Friday, January 24, members of the public and other interested parties will have an opportunity to learn more about a 250-megawatt power plant proposed by the Turlock Irrigation District.

If approved, the Walnut Energy Center project would be a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant constructed on an 18-acre site within a 69-acre parcel. The location is southeast of the intersection of West Main Street and Washington Road within the City of Turlock in Stanislaus County.

What:      Site Visit and Informational Hearing

When:      Friday, January 24, 2003
Site Visit begins at 1 p.m.
Informational Hearing begins at 2 p.m.

Where:      Turlock Irrigation District Office
Board Room

Turlock, California

Bus transportation will be provided to the site from the district office. Land owners, members of the public, and governmental agencies are invited to participate.
