Community Calendar Announcement

If your publication, radio, or television station offers a community events calendar, you may want to include the following news.

The Committee overseeing the application for certification for the San Joaquin Valley Energy Center will conduct a site visit and pre-hearing conference as follows:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2003
Site Visit begins at 1 p.m.
Pre-Hearing Conference begins at 2 p.m.
Location:
GURU ASSEMBLY HALL
8696 Main Street
San Joaquin, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Bus transportation will be provided to and from the Assembly Hall parking lot.

The pre-hearing conference will provide the Committee an opportunity to assess the parties' readiness for evidentiary hearings, identify areas of agreement or dispute, and discuss the remaining schedule and procedures necessary to conclude the certification process.

The project, planned by Calpine, would be a 1,060-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle facility. The site is located on an 85-acre parcel in the city of San Joaquin in Fresno County near the Mendota Wildlife Management Area.

Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments.
