February 7, 2003
If your publication, radio, or television station offers a community events calendar, you may want to include the following news.
The Committee overseeing the application for certification for the Malburg Generating Station will conduct a site visit and evidentiary hearing as follows:
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2003
Site Visit begins at 12:30 p.m.
Evidentiary Hearing begins at 1:30 p.m.
City Council Chambers
Vernon City Hall
4305 Santa Fe Avenue
Bus transportation will be provided to and from the City Hall parking lot.
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or staff workshops.
The Malburg Generating Station is a 134-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant that would be located on approximately 3.4 acres of the City of Vernon's existing Station A power generating facility in Los Angeles County.
Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at [firstname.lastname@example.org].
