Workshop to Address Adequacy of World Oil Supplies

The California Energy Commission convenes a panel of experts at a public workshop to address the issue of adequacy of world oil supplies. Speakers will discuss estimates of oil resources and their locations, impacts of oil production levels and availability of potential substitutes for oil-based fuels. The Commission's fuels committee anticipates that the meeting will improve the Commission's understanding of how world oil supply and oil market dynamics might affect the cost and fuel mix of the state's future transportation energy system

The workshop is part of proceedings for the Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR) that the Commission will adopt under a legislative mandate every two years. The first report is due to the Governor and the Legislature in November 2003.
