If your publication, radio, or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearings.
The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed Pico Power Project will hold an evidentiary hearing on:
WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2003
Beginning at 9 a.m.
California Energy Commission
Hearing Room A
1516 Ninth Street
Leader: Gary Fay
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or Staff workshops.
The Pico Power Project is a proposal from Santa Clara's electric utility, Silicon Valley Power. The natural gas-fired, combined-cycle electric generation facility is expected to generate 122 megawatts under nominal conditions with the ability to peak fire to 147 megawatts. Power produced by the facility would allow Silicon Valley Power to meet expected growth of its customer base and replace an existing long-term power contract.
Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. For information about how to participate, contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at:
