If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearings.
The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the Walnut Energy Center proposed by the Turlock Irrigation District, will hold an evidentiary hearing and second prehearing conference on:
MONDAY, AUGUST 25, 2003
Beginning at 10 a.m.
California Energy Commission
Hearing Room A
1516 Ninth Street
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or Staff workshops. The second Prehearing Conference will assess the parties' readiness for an Evidentiary Hearing on any issues that remain following the first Evidentiary Hearing.
The Walnut Energy Center project proposed by the Turlock Irrigation District would be a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant constructed on an 18-acre site within a 69-acre parcel. The location is southeast of the intersection of West Main Street and Washington Road within the City of Turlock in Stanislaus County.
Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. For information about how to participate, contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at:
