Dear Editor / Publisher:
If your publication, radio or television
station offers a calendar of community events, you may
want to include news of the following hearings.
The California Energy Commission Committee
overseeing the Application for Certification for the
Walnut Energy Center proposed by the Turlock Irrigation
District will hold a second evidentiary hearing on:
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2003
Beginning at 10 a.m.
California Energy Commission
Hearing Room A
1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)
This hearing may be continued to October
9, 2003, if necessary.
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish
the factual record necessary to reach a decision in
this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written,
or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary
hearings are more structured than Committee conferences
or Staff workshops.
The Walnut Energy Center project proposed
by the Turlock Irrigation District would be a 250-megawatt,
natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant constructed
on an 18-acre site within a 69-acre parcel. The site
is located southeast of the intersection of West Main
Street and Washington Road within the City of Turlock
in Stanislaus County.
Members of the public and other interested
agencies are invited to participate and provide comments.
