El Segundo Hosts LA-Area Meeting Oct. 2 on State's Energy Policy

The California Energy Commission is holding hearings on its 2003 Integrated Energy Policy Report, which provides an overview of major energy trends and issues within California's transportation, electricity, and natural gas industries. The report examines energy supply, demand, price, reliability, and efficiency and their impacts on public health and safety, the economy, resources, and the environment.

The Los Angeles-area hearing on the report takes place tomorrow in El Segundo to obtain feedback from government officials, energy industry and environmental representatives, and public policy decision makers.

Why: Legislation requires the California Energy Commission to adopt the report every two years. The initial report is due to the Governor and the Legislature in November 2003. The Commission is holding hearings October 1, 2, 3, 6, and 10, throughout the State on the draft report. The comments and discussions at these regional hearings will be included in a revised report that the Energy Commission will consider adopting at its October 29, 2003, Business Meeting.
