Dear Editor / Publisher:
If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearing.
The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed Kings River Conservation District Peaking Plant will hold an evidentiary hearing as follows:
TUESDAY, MARCH 23, 2004
Beginning at 10 a.m.
California Energy Commission
1516 Ninth Street
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or staff workshops.
The Kings River Conservation District proposes to construct and operate a 97-megawatt, simple-cycle, natural gas-fired facility on a site south of Fresno, near the community of Malaga in Fresno County. The project is being evaluated under the California Energy Commission's Small Power Plant Exemption process.
Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Commission's website contains current information on the proposed project at:
