Community Calendar Announcement

July 6, 2004

Dear Editor/Publisher:

If your publication, radio, or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

The staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a workshop on the Draft Initial Study of the Application for Small Power Plant Exemption for the Riverside Energy Resource Center on:

THURSDAY, JULY 15, 2004
11:30 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m.
Riverside Water Quality Control Plant Headquarters Multipurpose Room
5950 Acorn Street
Riverside, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

The Energy Commission staff will receive comments and questions on the Draft Initial Study, gather additional information and work through final issues in preparation for the Final Initial Study to be completed in late July 2004.

The City of Riverside Public Utilities proposes to build and operate a 96-megawatt, simple-cycle, natural gas-fired, peaking power plant. The proposed 12-acre site is located next to the city's wastewater treatment plant, from which the power plant would use reclaimed water for cooling.

Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commission's Public Adviser, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at:

pao@energy.state.ca.us

The Commission's website contains current information on the proposed project at:

Please feel free to contact me at (916) 654-4989 if you prefer to have your name removed from our mailing list. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Chris Davis
Information Officer
