Community Calendar Announcement

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearing.

The Committee hearing the Application for Certification for the proposed Riverside Energy Resource Center will hold evidentiary hearings as follows:

MONDAY and TUESDAY, AUGUST 30 and 31, 2004
Beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Riverside City Hall
Council Chambers
3900 Main Street
Riverside, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2004
Beginning at 10:00 a.m.
City of Riverside Water Quality Control Plant Headquarters
Multipurpose Room
5950 Acorn Street
Riverside, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or staff workshops.

The city of Riverside Public Utilities proposes to build and operate a 96-megawatt, simple-cycle, natural gas-fired, peaking power plant. The proposed 12-acre site is located next to the city's wastewater treatment plant, from which the power plant would use reclaimed water for cooling.

Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at: pao@energy.state.ca.us.

The Commission's website contains current information on the proposed project at:

Please contact me at (916) 654-4989 if you prefer to have your name removed from our list. Thank you.
