October 13, 2004
If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.
The California Energy Commission staff will conduct a workshop to discuss the Staff Assessment of the first part of the Los Esteros Phase II proposal on:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2004
9:30 a.m. - approximately 4:00 p.m.
Clarion Hotel, Park Plaza, San Jose Airport Inn
1355 North 4th Street
San Jose, California
This workshop will provide the public, the applicant and other agencies an opportunity to comment on the staff's analyses of re-licensing the power plant. Discussion topics will range from air quality to biological resources to public health to traffic and transportation.
The Los Esteros Phase II application from Calpine includes two parts. The first phase requests recertification of the existing simple-cycle, 180-megawatt, natural gas-fired power plant in North San Jose. Phase two requests approval to add equipment to convert the facility to a more efficient, combined-cycle power plant that would produce 320 megawatts.
Members of the public and other interested parties are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
