Community Calendar Announcement

February 4, 2005

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

The California Energy Commission Staff will conduct a Preliminary Staff Assessment workshop on the proposed Blythe Energy Project Phase Two on:

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2005
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
California Energy Commission
1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Interested parties who are not able to attend the workshop may participate by calling, toll free, 1-877-448-8783. The pass code is 710000.

This workshop will provide the applicant, interested agencies and members of the public the opportunity to discuss the Biological Resources section of the Preliminary Staff Assessment published on November 14, 2003. The comments will be considered in drafting the Final Staff Assessment.

The Blythe Energy Project Phase II is a proposed addition to the operating Blythe Energy Project. If approved, the 520-megawatt, combined-cycle Phase II project will be built within the property boundaries of the existing project, near Interstate 10 and the Blythe Airport, five miles west of the city of Blythe in Riverside County.

Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commissions Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at:

pao@energy.state.ca.us.

The Commissions website contains current information on the proposed project at:

Please contact me at (916) 654-4989 if you prefer to have your name removed from our list. Thank you.
