Community Calendar Announcement

February 4, 2005

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

The California Energy Commission staff, with the Western Area Power Administration and the Bureau of Land Management, will conduct a two-day workshop to discuss the Preliminary Staff Assessment for the Blythe Energy Transmission Line Amendment on:

9 a.m. - 5 p.m., (Ending earlier Friday, if completed)
City Hall Council Chambers
3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way
Palm Springs, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Interested parties who cannot attend, can participate in the workshop by calling 1-888-677-1801. The access code is CASWELL.

This workshop will provide the Energy Commission staff, the Western Area Power Administration and the Bureau of Land Management the opportunity to receive comments from the applicant, the public, and interested agencies on the Preliminary Staff Assessment published on January 24, 2005. The comments will be considered in drafting the Final Staff Assessment.

Blythe Energy, LLC, is proposing to build two transmission lines and a substation in Riverside County. The proposed facilities would allow the entire 520 megawatt output of the Blythe Energy power plant to be transmitted into the Southern California electrical grid.

Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commissions Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at:
