Energy Commission To Hold Hearing and Site Visit for
San Francisco Electric Reliability Project

Sacramento - Members of the public and other interested parties will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposed San Francisco Electric Reliability Project at an upcoming Information Hearing, public workshop and Site Visit. The Committee previously held an Information Hearing and Site Visit on June 15, 2004. Since then, the City and County of San Francisco filed supplemental information proposing the use of a new site for the facility.

The San Francisco Electric Reliability Project, as proposed, would be a 145-megawatt, simple-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant. The new project site is owned by the City and County of San Francisco and is on the south side of 25th Street, just east of Illinois Street.

At the Information Hearing, the applicant will discuss the projects plans and impacts. Members of the public can ask questions and provide comments, while the Energy Commission staff will identify potential issues. Both the applicant and staff will offer proposed schedules for the proceeding. Immediately following the Committee Hearing, Energy Commission staff will hold a workshop to discuss the City and County of San Francisco's responses to data requests in several areas and focus on resolving related issues. Before both events, landowners, governmental agencies and members of the public are invited to join the Committee on a tour of the new site. All three events will begin at the Hearing Location on:

Date/Time:  FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2005
Site Visit begins at 1 p.m.
Committee Hearing begins at approximately 2 p.m., following
