Community Calendar Announcement

May 23, 2005

Dear Editor/Publisher:

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following conference.

The Committee overseeing the California Energy Commission review of the Blythe Energy Project Phase II Application for Certification will conduct a public hearing and review the status of the project on:

FRIDAY, JUNE 3, 2005
Beginning at 10a.m.
California Energy Commission

1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Interested parties who are not able to attend the workshop may participate by calling, toll free, 1-888-628-9523. The pass code is Shean call.

This conference will provide the applicant and other interested parties an opportunity to comment, and for the Committee to consider appropriate action, in response to the staffs Motion to Compel Applicant to Submit Certain Information on Proposed Transmission Interconnection Configuration. The motion seeks sufficient transmission information to enable a complete regulatory review of the projects conformity to applicable laws and potential transmission line environmental impacts. The Committee will also review the status of the proceeding, the timeliness and completeness of data submitted by the Applicant, and the schedule for the remainder of the proceeding

The Blythe Energy Project Phase II would be a 520-megawatt, combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant. As currently proposed, Phase II would be built within the property boundaries of the existing facility near Interstate 10 and the Blythe Airport, five miles west of the city of Blythe in Riverside County.

Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commissions Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by email at:
