Dear Editor / Publisher:
If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearing.
The California Energy Commission Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed Blythe Energy Project Phase II will hold an evidentiary hearing as follows:
MONDAY & TUESDAY, AUGUST 1 & 2, 2005
Beginning at 9 a.m. each day
Blythe City Hall - Administration
235 North Broadway
Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary to reach a decision in this case. This is accomplished by taking oral, written, or documentary evidence from the parties. Formal evidentiary hearings are more structured than Committee conferences or staff workshops.
The Blythe Energy Project Phase II would be a 520-megawatt, combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant. As currently proposed, Phase II would be built within the property boundaries of the existing power plant near Interstate 10 and the Blythe Airport, five miles west of the city of Blythe in Riverside County.
Members of the public and other interested agencies are invited to participate and provide comments. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Margret J. Kim, the Commissions Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at
