Energy Commission Schedules Informational Hearing
and Site Visit for Sun Valley Energy Project
Sacramento - On Monday, February 27, members of the public and other interested parties will have an opportunity to learn more about the 500-megawatt peaking facility power plant proposed by Valle del Sol Energy, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Edison Mission Energy.
As proposed, the natural gas-fired, simple-cycle power plant will be located on an approximately 20-acre site on Matthews Road near Romoland. The project site is within Riverside County and is zoned Manufacturing-Service Commercial. Currently, the surrounding land uses include agriculture, railroad, industrial, and rural residential.
The informational hearing is the first step in the formal licensing process and allows members of the community and governmental agencies to have an opportunity to receive information and offer comments on the proposal. The applicant will explain plans for developing the proposed site and related facilities. Energy Commission staff will explain the administrative licensing process and its role in reviewing the application. Applicant and staff will also discuss the schedule and possible issues that may be significant during the proceeding.
