Energy Commission Schedules Informational Hearing
and Site Visit for Walnut Creek Energy Park
Sacramento - On Tuesday, February 28, members of the public and other interested parties will have an opportunity to learn more about the 500-megawatt simple-cycle peaking facility power plant proposed by the Walnut Creek Energy Park, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Edison Mission Energy.
As proposed, the five natural gas-fired turbine-generators will be located at 911 Bixby Drive in the City of Industry, Los Angeles County. The site is an 11.48-acre parcel currently owned by the Industry Urban Development Agency, which has designated the parcel for redevelopment. Walnut Creek Energy will take possession of the site through a lease option agreement from the Development Agency after an existing warehouse has been demolished.
The informational hearing is the first step in the formal licensing process and allows members of the community and governmental agencies to have an opportunity to receive information and offer comments on the proposal. The applicant will explain plans for developing the proposed site and related facilities. Energy Commission staff will explain the regulatory review process and its independent role in analyzing the application. Applicant and staff will also discuss the possible issues that may be significant during the remainder of the proceeding.
