California Credit Policies Workshop
Lowering capital costs for generation projects
Sacramento - On Tuesday, June 27, the California Energy Commission's Electricity Committee will hold a workshop to address credit policies imposed for new and re-powered generation projects, especially renewable projects.
Workshop participants will examine and discuss credit requirements imposed on new generation projects in California, and help guide energy policy development, including policies associated with California's Renewables Portfolio Standard. Topics include: current credit requirements; issues for private power developers; how California's current credit policies contribute to project costs in terms of real dollars; identifying a set of prudent solutions that would satisfy present credit polices while lowering the effective cost of capital, including step-in rights, insurance products, risk pooling and reducing credit requirements; and discussion of future research topics and next steps.
Financial and investment managers, insurance companies, developers, and investor-owned and municipal utilities are encouraged to participate and explore solutions concerning credit polices imposed on new and re-powered generation projects in California.
The workshop agenda is available on the Energy Commission Web site at: www.energy.ca.gov/2007_energypolicy/notices/2006-06-27_agenda_notice.html
