Conference explains report to the Governor on this spring's
record high gasoline, diesel prices

Sacramento - Tomorrow the California Energy Commission will host an Internet media conference explaining the Commission report to the Governor on the rapid rise in gasoline and diesel prices that occurred this spring.

Why: Retail gasoline prices in California rose to an all-time high average of $3.33 a gallon in May 2006. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger asked the Energy Commission, working closely with the Board of Equalization and the Attorney General's Office, to investigate reasons why California's retail prices were as much as 43 cents higher than the national average.

What: The report, Spring 2006 Price Spike Report to the Governor, will be available on-line Tuesday afternoon. Undersecretary Desmond will present the report's key findings and answer reporters' questions.
