Site visit, informational hearing for proposed power plant in
San Diego County scheduled on November 29


When:

Thursday, November 29, 2007

Where:

Public site visit begins at 12:30 p.m. The public informational hearing begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main St, Chula Vista. The site is a short walk from the hearing location.

Who:

The Chula Vista Committee of California Energy Commission Chairman Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, presiding member and Commissioner James D. Boyd, associate member will lead the site visit and conduct the informational hearing on the proposed plant. These steps are the first in a formal review process that allows the public, governmental agencies and other interested parties to participate in the review of the planned power plant.

What:

The Energy Commission began review of the proposed project on September 26, 2007. Proposed by MMC Energy, Inc, it would replace the Chula Vista Power Plant currently located on a 3.8-acre parcel in the City of Chula Vista's Main Street industrial corridor and within the city’s light industrial district.

Why:

If approved the facility would begin construction of in the fall of 2008. Operation is expected to begin in the fall of 2009. More information on the Chula Vista Energy Project is available on the Energy Commission website at:
