Staff Assessment workshop
on Humboldt Bay Repowering Project

Attention Editors:

Staff of the California Energy Commission will conduct a Preliminary Staff Assessment (PSA) workshop on the proposed Humboldt Bay Repowering Project on:

Friday, December 14, 2007,
from 10am to 4pm

PG&E's Humboldt Bay Power Plant, Assembly Building (wheelchair accessible), 1000 King Salmon Avenue, Eureka, California

The workshop will provide Energy Commission staff the opportunity to receive comments on its PSA of the project from the applicant, members of the public, intervenors in the proceeding and local, state, and federal agencies. The comments will be considered in revising the PSA and drafting the Final Staff Assessment. All topics of the PSA will be discussed with emphasis on air quality, biology, cultural resources, land use and public health.

The proposed 163-megawatt project, about three miles south of the city of Eureka, would be located on the same parcel as the existing Humboldt Bay Power Plant. It would be situated at 1000 King Salmon Avenue on 5.4 acres within a 143-acre parcel currently occupied by the existing PG&E Humboldt Bay Power Plant. The project will replace the existing 105-MW Units 1 and 2 and the two 15-MW Mobile Emergency Power Plants at PG&E's Humboldt Bay Power Plant site. More information on the HBRP is available at:
