Workshop on Orange Grove peaker plant
scheduled for Thursday, September 11
Staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a data response and issue resolution workshop for the proposed 96-megawatt Orange Grove Energy AFC Power Plant Project in San Diego County. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2008.
Fallbrook Public Utilities District, 990 East Mission Road, Fallbrook, California.
Energy Commission staff will conduct the data response and issue resolution to focus on data already received from the plant applicant and work to resolve issues and concerns in the areas of air quality, alternatives, biological resources, cultural resources, hazardous materials management, public health, socioeconomics, soil and water resources, transmission system engineering, waste management, and worker safety/fire protection.
Following the workshop, staff will consider the responses and comments it receives in preparing a Final Staff Assessment containing an analysis of issues, recommendations for mitigation of impacts and conditions of certification.
The Orange Grove Energy AFC Power Plant Project is designed as a peaking facility to serve loads only during peak demand. In July 2007, the applicant filed a similar project seeking a Small Power Plant Exemption (SPPE). That project's SPPE application was withdrawn in April 25, 2008, and the proceeding terminated by the Commission on May 7, 2008. The applicant submitted the current AFC on June 20, 2008.
