Pre-hearing conference on December 1st for the Orange Grove Energy AFC Power Plant Project

What: The California Energy Commission Committee reviewing the 96-megawatt Orange Grove Energy AFC Power Plant Project will hold a pre-hearing conference. Members of the public are invited attend.

When: Monday, December 1, 2008, beginning at 9am

Where: Hearing Room B, California Energy Commission 1516 Ninth Street, Sacramento

Who: The pre-hearing conference is a public forum that will provide the Committee reviewing the proposed power plant an opportunity to assess the readiness of all parties for evidentiary hearing, identify areas of agreement and dispute and discuss procedures.

Why: The evidentiary hearing, scheduled in Fallbrook on December 19, 2008, will establish the factual record upon which the Commission will decide this case based on written or documentary evidence from the official parties to the proceeding.

Members of the public are welcome to attend both events. It is not necessary for anyone to be an intervenor or formal party to the proceeding to take part in the public process. However, only formal parties may present and cross-examine witnesses at the evidentiary hearing.

The Orange Grove Energy AFC Power Plant Project is proposed by J-Power USA Development Corporation, in response to a Request for Offers (RFO) by San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) for new generating resources to support local reliability.

The facility will be ramped up only in times of high electricity demand. It will consist of simple cycle electric generating plant and related facilities on unincorporated land owned by SDG&E north of State Route 76 and east of Interstate 15 in rural San Diego County. The proposed plant will be located five miles east of Fallbrook and two miles west of the community of Pala.
