Workshop on GWF Tracy power plant scheduled for
Thursday, December 11

What: Staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a data response and issue resolution workshop for the 314-megawatt GWF Tracy Combined Cycle Power Plant project

When: Beginning at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008

Where: Holiday Inn Express, 3751 North Tracy Boulevard, Tracy

Who: Energy Commission staff will conduct the data response and issue resolution to focus on data already received from the plant applicant and work to resolve issues and concerns in the areas of air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and paleontology, land use, and soil and water resources.

Why: Following the workshop, staff will consider the responses and comments it receives, and if necessary submit a second round of data requests, before publishing a Preliminary Staff Assessment containing a preliminary analysis of issues and recommendations for mitigation and conditions of certification for the planned facility.

GWF Energy, LLC, submitted an Application for Certification (AFC) to the Energy Commission on June 30, 2008, to modify the existing 169-megawatt, simple cycle Tracy Peaker Plant (TPP) into a 314-MW combined cycle facility The proposed project would occupy a 16.38 acre, fenced site within the existing GWF-owned 40 acre parcel in an unincorporated portion of San Joaquin County close to Tracy and about 20 miles southwest of Stockton.

If approved, construction of GWF Tracy could begin in early spring of 2010 and be completed in late spring of 2012.
