Attention City and Assignment Editors:
Supplementary evidentiary hearing and a public conference on
proposed San Diego power plant to be held Monday, March 16th
A California Energy Commission committee reviewing the proposed 96-megawatt Orange Grove AFC Power Plant project in San Diego County will hold a supplemental evidentiary hearing.
When: Beginning at 10:30 am, Monday, March 16, 2009
Where:Pala Mesa Resort Sun Room, 2001 Old Highway 395, Fallbrook, California
Why: At the hearing, the evidentiary record will be reopened for the limited purpose of admitting evidence on outstanding issues of the case as outlined in the presiding member's proposed decision (PMPD) on the peaker plant. These issues include the resolution of a discrepancy regarding the amount of the plant's water usage; the duration and hours of construction of a natural gas pipeline; and whether the plant site would be leased by the San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E) to the Orange Grove LLC, the plant applicant.
Immediately following the supplementary evidentiary, the committee will hold a public conference on the PMPD on the same location. The document will be considered before the full Commission for a final vote on April 8, 2009.
What: The Orange Grove Energy AFC Power Plant project is proposed by a subsidiary J-Power USA Development Corporation, in response to a Request for Offers (RFO) by (SDG&E) for new generating resources to support local reliability. If approved, the facility will operate only in times of high electricity demand. It will consist of simple cycle electric generating plant and related facilities on unincorporated land owned by SDG&E north of State Route 76 and east of Interstate 15 in rural San Diego County.
The proposed plant will be located five miles east of Fallbrook and two miles west of the community of Pala.
