Site visit and informational hearing postponed for
San Joaquin solar-biomass hybrid power plant project

Attention City and Assignment Editors:

The site visit and informational hearing for the106.8-megawatt San Joaquin Solar 1&2 hybrid power plant project originally scheduled for April 7 has been moved to April 22, 2009. The public is invited to attend.

Two free buses will be available to take participants at 4pm from the Coalinga City Hall, 155 West Durian to the site of the proposed plant. The buses will return to City Hall for the informational hearing at the Council Chambers beginning at 5pm.

The site visit and informational hearing are the first steps in a formal process that allows the public, government agencies and other interested parties to participate in the review of the plant power plant.

The project will be located six miles east of the City of Coalinga in Fresno County. It will be comprised of-two hybrid plants with a solar field and a biomass facility capable of producing 53.4 MW net of solar electricity each. During nighttime and periods of cloud cover, the solar production will be supplemented by the biomass facility fueled by agricultural wood waste.

If approved by the Commission, the project is expected to be on line by the first quarter of 2011.
