Capitol Earth Day Event Engages Californians on Solar Energy
What: Students, state and local energy leaders, solar providers, New Solar Homes Partnership home builders and green-minded residents will gather on the South Steps of the State Capitol on Wednesday, April 22, to celebrate Earth Day. California's 2009 Earth Day celebration will include the Youth Energy Summit, where 60 local high school students will present energy projects ranging from solar to wind, thermal and more.
When: Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Background: Demonstrations from green businesses, solar industry leaders and members of California's New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) will also be featured as part of California's Solar Initiative that was signed in to law in 2006 (SB1, Murray). As part of the initiative, the NSHP provides incentives to home builders who integrate solar and high energy-efficiency standards throughout their developments to drive energy efficient solar home construction across the state.
