Attention City and Assignment Editors:

Second public workshop to be held today
on SES Solar Two Project

What: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the California Energy Commission staff will conduct a second data response workshop for the Stirling Energy Systems Solar Two Project (SES Solar Two).

When: 2 p.m. today, Thursday, May 7, 2009.

Where: Fairfield Inn and Suites, 503 Danenburg Drive, El Centro, California.

Why: The workshop will discuss Stirling Energy Systems Solar Two, LLC's responses to the BLM and Energy Commission staff's data requests received since the December 18, 2008 data response workshop. All interested agencies and members of the public are invited to participate.

What: The 750-MW Stirling Energy Systems Solar Two Project will include 30,000 25-kilowatt solar dish Stirling systems (referred to as SunCatchers), associated equipment and systems, and support infrastructure. The 6,500 acre project site is mostly on federal Bureau of Land Management Land near Ocotillo Wells in Imperial County.

If approved, construction on the plant is targeted to begin either late 2009 or early 2010. Although construction would take approximately 40 months to complete, renewable power would be available to the grid as each 60-unit group is completed.
