Energy Stimulus Funding Discussed at LA Workshop

LOS ANGELES - On August 28, the California Energy Commission will conduct an informational workshop to discuss the status of two proposed funding areas -- the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program and State Energy Program (SEP), from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Assemblymember Felipe Fuentes (D-Los Angeles) will offer opening remarks.

The workshop will be held from 1-4 p.m. in the John Ferraro Council Chamber (Room 340) in City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles and address proposed funding areas for the EECBG and SEP programs to be administered by the Energy Commission. The workshop will offer stakeholders an opportunity to learn about the proposed guidelines and funding areas for both programs.

The California Energy Commission has been awarded more than $300 million for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. The Energy Commission's two main areas of responsibility are the State Energy Program and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.

The funding areas include green workforce development; California Department of General Service's energy efficiency retrofits for state buildings; use of the Energy Commission's existing Energy Conservation Assistance Act account for one percent interest rate loans or local jurisdiction energy saving projects; grants for energy saving projects, a clean energy program to support combined heat and power systems, distributed generation; and energy efficiency retrofits for commercial and residential facilities. The public is invited to attend this public workshop.
