Public meeting October 13 in Victorville on
desert renewable energy projects
What: A public workshop will be held to discuss a draft best management practices manual (BMP) to help ensure that developers proposing renewable energy projects in the California deserts understand and meet federal, state and local requirements. Interested stakeholders and the public are urged to attend.
When: Beginning at 10am, Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Where: Training Rooms 1&2, Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Drive, Victorville, California
Who: Representatives of the California Energy Commission, California Department of Fish and Game (CDGF), U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), California and the United States Fish and the Wildlife Service (USFWS) are participating. These agencies developed the draft manual with input from the Desert Managers Group that is working on BMPs for solar energy projects.

Why: The manual will also assist developers in designing renewable energy projects that minimize environmental impacts and assist in accelerating review of renewable energy projects in the local, state and federal permitting processes.
The workshop is part of a series of public meetings on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Executive Order accelerating the permitting of renewable energy projects in the California desert region while minimizing environmental impacts and conserving valuable natural resources.
