Evidentiary Hearing and Final Staff Assessment Workshop to be held
December 14 and 15 on the Ivanpah Solar project
What: The California Energy Commission committee reviewing the proposed 400-megawatt Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System Project will hold an evidentiary hearing and final staff assessment workshop. Members of the public are welcome to attend and offer comments.
When: Monday, December 14, 2009 beginning at 9am
Where: Hearing Room A, California Energy Commission,
1516 Ninth Street, Sacramento, California
Who: It is not necessary for anyone to be an intervener (formal party to the proceedings) to take part in the public process. However, only formal parties may present and cross-examine witnesses at the evidentiary hearing.
Why: The evidentiary hearing, publicly noticed on November 23, will establish the factual record upon which the Commission will decide this case based on written or documentary evidence from the official parties to the proceeding.
If needed, the evidentiary hearing will continue on December 15, after which a workshop on the Energy Commission staff's final staff assessment (FSA) of the proposed project, will immediately follow.
The hearing, if needed and the FSA workshop will start 9am, December 15, 2009 at:
Second Floor Conference Room, California Energy Commission
The evidentiary hearing and the FSA workshop continue the Energy Commission's process in its joint review of the project with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The commission is the lead permitting agency under the California Environmental Quality Act, and BLM is the permitting agency under the National Environmental Policy Act.
The project will develop three solar thermal power plants and shared facilities near Ivanpah Dry Lake near Intestate 15 in San Bernardino County, on land managed by the BLM.
