Evidentiary Hearing June 28 & 29 for Abengoa Solar Project
Sacramento - The California Energy Commission Committee reviewing the proposed Abengoa Mojave Solar Power Plant Project in San Bernardino County will hold an evidentiary hearing. The public is invited to participate.
When: Beginning at 10:00 am, Monday, June 28, 2010 and Tuesday, June 29, 2010 beginning at 10:00 am

Why: The evidentiary hearing will establish the factual record upon which the committee will decide the case, based on written or documentary evidence from the official parties to the proceeding. It is not necessary for anyone to be an intervener (formal party) to take part in the public process. However, only formal parties may present and cross-examine witnesses at the evidentiary hearing
Who: Following the hearing, the committee reviewing the project will consider the recommendations presented by the Energy Commission staff, the plant applicant, interveners, government agencies and the public before proposing its decision to the full five member Energy Commission for deliberation and final consideration.
What: The Abengoa Mojave Solar Project would implement parabolic trough technology to trap the sun's energy to boil a heat transfer fluid to power steam generators to produce electricity. The proposed facility would be located on 1,765 acres of mostly fallow agricultural land located in San Bernardino County halfway between Barstow and Kramer Junction, and nine miles northwest of Hinkley, California.
If approved by the Commission, the project would start construction in December 2010, with commercial service by the fourth quarter of 2012.
