Workshop on Watson Cogeneration Steam and Electric Reliability Project to be held January 25
Sacramento - The California Energy Commission staff will hold a workshop to discuss the preliminary staff assessment (PSA) for the proposed Watson Cogeneration Steam and Electric Reliability Project. The public is invited to participate.
When: Tuesday, January 25, 2011, starting at 3 p.m.
Where: Carson Community Center, 801 East Carson Street, Room 111, Carson, California For those unable to attend the hearing, you may participate by telephone. For details, click here: http://www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/watson/notices/
Why: The purpose of the workshop is to allow staff, the applicant, interested agencies, and the public to discuss the PSA, which was published December 17, 2010, and to work towards resolving issues.
What: The project, which is planned by the Watson Cogeneration Company, will increase and improve the reliability of the steam supply at the BP Carson Refinery. It plans to do so by increasing the capacity of the existing 385-megawatt Watson Cogeneration Facility by 85 megawatts with the addition of a combustion turbine generator/heat recovery steam generator. The Watson Cogeneration Company is a joint partnership between subsidiaries of BP America and Edison Mission Energy.
The project site consists of 2.5 acres within the boundary of the existing Watson Cogeneration Facility, which is located in the city of Carson in Los Angeles County. The 21.7-acre facility supplies steam to and is integral to the adjacent BP Carson Refinery.
More information about the project can be found at: http://www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/watson/
