Workshop on February 2 for Oakley Generating Station Project
Sacramento - The California Energy Commission staff is holding a workshop to discuss the preliminary staff assessment (PSA) for the proposed 624-megawatt Oakley Generating Station Project.
When: Wednesday, February 2, 2011, beginning at 1 p.m.
Where: Hearing Room B, California Energy Commission, 1516 Ninth Street, Sacramento, California
Why: The workshop will be held to discuss the PSA and encourage further public participation. Part A of the PSA was released December 20, 2010, while Part B of the PSA was published on January 14, 2011.
The PSA serves as the Energy Commission staff's initial evaluation of the environmental, engineering, and public health and safety impacts of the proposed facility. The PSA is not a decision nor does it contain final findings of the Energy Commission related to the environmental impacts or the project's compliance with local, state, and federal legal requirements. A final staff assessment (FSA) will be released, superseding the PSA. The FSA will serve as staff's testimony at evidentiary hearings by the committee of two commissioners reviewing the proposed project.
What: The Oakley Generating Station Project is being proposed by Contra Costa County Generating Station, LLC, a limited liability corporation owned by Radback Energy, Inc. The project is a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle electrical generating facility. The project is located on a 21.95-acre site in the city of Oakley in eastern Contra Costa County.
