U.S. Navy and California Host Clean Energy Showcase
Part of California's Celebration of Navy Week

SACRAMENTO - California Energy Commission Chair Dr. Robert B. Weisenmiller will participate in the US Navy's Clean Energy Showcase as part of Navy Week on Thursday, July 19, 2012.

The Department of Defense and the Navy have become innovators in energy efficiency and catalysts in California's growing clean technology and innovation sector. Several of the Navy's clean energy and technology partners including Ventura County's Biodico will be participating. The Port Hueneme-based company was recently awarded a $1.8 million grant by the Energy Commission for research and development of innovative biodiesel fuels that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The U.S. Department of Defense declared climate change and oil dependence as strategic national security threats and U.S. oil dependence as creating significant risks to our men and women in uniform.
