Purpose

The PIER Transmission Research Program has selected a sample of its on-going research projects addressing a variety of transmission stakeholder concerns. Researchers for each project will describe the problem addressed, the proposed technology solution, the research approach taken, and the nature of the effort. You will learn about each project's progress, accomplishments, remaining work and how these projects are addressing important State goals and objectives.

Background

During the last decade, changes in electricity markets, regulations and technologies have significantly raised uncertainty for transmission planners, owners, operators, policy makers and regulators. Providing for the transmission of renewable energy is one example of these changes. The goal of this workshop is to review some of the technology developments underway to manage or reduce this growing uncertainty facing the electric transmission community.
