The solicitation schedule has been updated to take the time necessary to clarify issues raised in the January 10th workshop. Staff Workshop on FY 2011/12 Public Interest Energy Research Initiatives

The California Energy Commission staff will conduct workshops for participants to discuss and advise the Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program's proposed initiatives for the 2011/12 fiscal year. Three workshops conducted with Research Advisory Groups on Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Smart Infrastructure will explore research initiatives. The workshop outcomes will help structure future public interest research efforts to maximize ratepayer benefits and eliminate duplication of efforts. The workshop will bring together utilities, researchers, manufacturers, end-users and policy makers from state agencies, federal agencies, and other members of the public.

Public workshop on desert research projects funded by the Public Interest Energy Research program.

The California Energy Commission is hosting a public workshop on desert research projects funded by the Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program. Principal investigators will provide an overview of six research projects addressing solar energy-related biological impacts in the California desert. Topics include cumulative impacts, desert tortoise, Mohave ground squirrel, and rare plants. The workshop will be held at the Energy Commission (Hearing Room B) in Sacramento on January 27, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 and broadcast via WebEx for remote attendees.
