Purpose
This meeting will give stakeholders an opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on:
- The Draft Phase 1B Final Report identifying potential competitive renewable energy zones (CREZs) in California and neighboring areas that will be ranked on economic and environmental attributes.
- The process for ranking CREZs by economic values.
- The process for ranking CREZs by environmental values.
- The process for combining economic and environmental ranking factors.
- The schedule for completing RETI Phase 1B, including public comment.
California has adopted energy policies that require substantial increases in the generation of electricity from renewable energy resources. Implementating these policies requires extensive improvements to California's electric transmission infrastructure. RETI is a statewide planning process that is identifying the transmission projects needed to accommodate these renewable energy goals. RETI is an open and transparent collaborative process where all interested parties are encouraged to participate.
RETI is in the process of identifying and assessing all CREZs in California and neighboring areas that can provide significant electricity to California consumers by 2020. RETI also will identify those CREZs that can be developed in the most cost effective and environmentally benign manner and will then use existing transmission planning processes to prepare transmission plans of service for those CREZs identified for development.

Plenary Stakeholder Group
Participation in the RETI Plenary Stakeholder Group (PSG) is open to all parties and the public who are interested in renewable resource and transmission development. The PSG meets periodically to receive reports from the Stakeholder Steering Committee, provide input and perspective on RETI work, help shape consensus recommendations and review progress toward program goals.
