TSE - Information Exchange/Workshop


The California Energy Commission staff will hold a Transmission System Engineering (TSE) Information Exchange/Workshop for the proposed Blythe Energy Project Phase II (BEP II) to build a consensus with the affected transmission owners, California Energy Commission staff and the Cal-ISO in preparation of system computer models for 2005 summer peak and light spring base cases which will be used for the system impact study of the BEP II. The result of this information will be used to prepare a System Impact Study Plan, schedule, and identify who is responsible for providing information and when it will be provided.

Project Summary:

On July 17, 2002, the Energy Commission deemed the BEP II Application for Certification (AFC) data adequate. This begins the Energy Commission's review process. The proposed project is located in the City of Blythe, next to the Blythe Energy Project I that was approved by the Energy Commission and is currently under construction. If approved, the BEP II will be a nominally rated 520-megawatt combined-cycle power plant.

Public Informational Hearing and Site Visit:

On September 9, 2002, the Energy Commission has scheduled a public Informational Hearing, a Site Visit and a Data Request Workshop to discuss the proposed project with the Blythe community. The Site Visit will begin at 1:00 p.m., the Public Informational Hearing will begin at 3:00 p.m. and the Data Request Workshop will begin at 7:00, all at the Blythe City Hall. At the Informational Hearing, members of the general public, landowners, and representatives of other governmental agencies will have an opportunity to obtain information and offer comments on the project.
