COMMISSIONNOTICE OF HEARING
ON PROJECT STATUSBLYTHE ENERGY PROJECT II
APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION
DOCKET NO. 02-AFC-1
Purposes of Hearing: The purposes of the Project Status Hearing are to review:
- the status of the proceeding,
- the timeliness and completeness of Applicant data submissions, and
- the schedule for the remainder of the Application for Certification (AFC) proceeding.
Discussion: On October 30, 2003, the Committee promulgated the "Committee Order Re Status Reports" directing the parties to identify: (1) topics not fully addressed in the Preliminary Staff Assessment; (2) outstanding data requests; (3) critical path items for the completion of the Final Staff Assessment (FSA); and (4) necessary federal permits or actions still needed.
Both the Staff and Applicant Caithness Blythe II filed Status Reports as directed on December 5, 2003. Based upon these filings, the Committee determined that there was sufficient cause to conduct a Status Conference. The Applicant disputes many of the items that Staff has identified as necessary for it to complete the FSA.
In attached Appendix A, the Committee has recapped the items identified by Staff as necessary for the FSA. The Committee will use Appendix A as a guide to help determine which items must be provided by the Applicant to Staff in order to publish the FSA on a timely basis.Hearing Date & Place:
