Withdrawal of Petition for Simple-Cycle Operations

On November 9, 2001, the California Energy Commission received a letter from Elk Hills Power, LLC, withdrawing their petition filed on August 20, 2001 to amend the Elk Hills Power Project for temporary simple-cycle operation during the peak energy demand period of 2002.

The Elk Hills Power Project is a nominally-rated 500 MW combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant currently under construction and scheduled for commercial operation in early 2003. It is located within the Elk Hills Oil and Gas field, approximately 25 miles west of Bakersfield between the communities of Buttonwillow and Taft in Kern County.

No further action will be taken by the Energy Commission on this petition. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Tronaas, Compliance Project Manager, at (916) 654-3864, or by e-mail at ntronaas@energy.state.ca.us.
