NOTICE OF A DATA ADEQUACY WORKSHOP
for the ELK HILLS POWER PROJECT
APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION
DOCKET NUMBER 99-AFC-1



On February 24, 1999, the Elk Hills Power, Limited Liability Company filed an Application for Certification for the Elk Hills Power Project (EHPP). The EHPP will be a nominal 500 megawatt (MW), natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant located in the 74 square mile Elk Hills Oil and Gas Field in western Kern County. The 12-acre site is about 25 miles west of Bakersfield, California, 9 miles south of the unincorporated community of Buttonwillow, California, and 9 miles north of Taft, California.

The applicant has requested a workshop to discuss the California Energy Commission staffŐs data adequacy determinations for the following technical areas: Project Overview, Alternatives, Air Quality, Biological Resources, Worker Safety and Fire Protection, Land Use, Traffic and Transportation, Socioeconomics, Biological Resources, Soil and Water Resources, Facility Design and Geology, Power Plant Reliability, and Transmission System Engineering.
