Staff PSA Workshop
Gateway Power Plant Unit 8

Purpose: On November 7, 2000, the staff of the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) filed its draft independent analysis of the Gateway Power Plant (CCPP) Unit 8 Application for Certification. The staffŐs draft analysis, known as the Preliminary Staff Assessment (PSA), is available for download from our web site at http://www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/contracosta; or you may call the project manager (see below) to have it mailed to you. This PSA workshop is designed to receive comments from the applicant, members of the public, intervenors in the proceeding, and local, State and federal agencies. Comments will be used to revise the PSA and will be incorporated into the Final Staff Assessment (FSA). Public comments are welcome and encouraged to be in writing.
Schedule: Energy Commission staff plan to cover the most critical topics during the first two evenings, as follows: Air Quality, Public Health, and Environmental Justice (EJ) the first evening, and Biology, Soil and Water Resources, and Noise the second evening. The third evening is reserved for additional topics, and will be cancelled if parties agree that the first two evenings were sufficient.

Monday -- December 11, 2000 (if necessary)

Project Summary: : Southern Energy Delta, LLC proposes to develop the Gateway Power Plant Unit 8, a 530-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle power plant. The proposed site is at the existing Gateway Power Plant, formerly owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Co., which is located one mile northeast of the City of Antioch on Wilbur Avenue, near State Route (SR) 4, SR 160 and the Antioch Bridge.
