NOTICE OF STAFF ASSESSMENT WORKSHOPS
The High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) is proposing to construct and operate a 680 to 830 MW natural gas fueled electricity generation power plant. The proposed project is to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The power plant and related facilities, such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline and water lines, are under the California Energy Commission's (Energy Commission) siting authority.
On January 21, 1999, the Energy Commission staff will publish a Staff Assessment (SA). This document contains staff's findings and recommendations on the High Desert Power Project Application for Certification (AFC), based on the information received to date. Staff will conduct public workshops on the SA as follows:
On Wednesday, February 3, 1999, staff will discuss SA findings and recommendations for air quality, hazardous materials handling, water resources, biological resources, and cultural resources. On Thursday, February 4, 1999, staff will discuss public health, worker safety and fire protection, transmission line safety and nuisance, traffic and transportation, land use, socioeconomics, visual resources, waste management, and paleontological resources. On Friday, February 5, 1999, staff will discuss project alternatives, noise, transmission line engineering, facility design, efficiency reliability, and need conformance.
