Notice Of A Data Adequacy Workshop
For The High Desert Power Project
Application For Certification
On June 30, 1997, High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) filed an Application for Certification (AFC) with the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) to construct and operate the High Desert Power Project. The project is proposed to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The applicant has identified three alternative natural gas-fired design configurations: a simple cycle combustion turbine design rated at 832 megawatts (MW), and two combined cycle configurations rated at 720 MW and 678 MW, respectively. The power plant and related facilities, such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline and water lines, are under the Energy Commission's siting authority.
On July 29, 1997, the Energy Commission's Executive Director informed the applicant that the staff would recommend that the Energy Commission deem the application incomplete pursuant to its data adequacy regulations. This matter is scheduled for consideration at the Energy Commissions's August 13, 1997, Business Meeting (Items 5 and 6 on agenda). Beginning on August 7, 1997, the applicant has submitted supplementary information to make the application complete. On workshop cancelled, the Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to discuss the data adequacy of supplementary submittals and to discuss strategy to make the application complete. This public workshop will be held:
